Howard S. Ives

American, 1900 - 1977

BiographyHoward S. Ives was born in New Haven, Connecticut, but was raised in Norwich. In 1917, he began working for the Connecticut state highway department. In 1920, he enlisted in the National Guard and became an artillery lieutenant in 1925. He served with the Seventh Army in Europe during World War II. He was appointed State Highway Commissioner in 1959 and served until 1969. He died on 4 November 1977.
