John M. Scanlon

American, 1924 - 1968
BiographyJohn M. Scanlon grew up in New Britain, Connecticut. He received his law degree from the University of Connecticut. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served as a state representative in the 1953-1955 session of the Connecticut General Assembly and in the State Senate from 1957-1961. He served as the assistant minority leader in 1957 and as the assistant majority leader in 1959. In 1963, Scanlon was named counsel for the State Development Commission. He was later a public defender in Circuit Court 15. He died on 26 June 1968 in New Britain.
