BiographyJoanne S. Faulkner was born in New York in 1938. She graduated from Nazareth College in 1960. She then attended Cornell Law School, graduating in 1963, where she was on the Law Journal.

After passing the New York Bar Exam in 1963 and the Connecticut Bar Exam in 1967, she began her career in New York City at Reavis and McGrath. In 1966, she moved to New Haven, Connecticut, and joined New Haven Legal Assistance Association. There, she focused on consumer law, advocating for the poor and handling significant civil rights litigation, including several cases before the United States Supreme Court.

In 1985, she transitioned to private practice, continuing her dedicated work in consumer law and her advocacy for those unable to afford legal representation.
