BiographyBeverly J. Hodgson is a retired Connecticut Superior Court judge, lawyer, and mediator known for her long career in law and her civic engagement in the New Haven area.
Born and raised in Bristol, Rhode Island, she attended Brown University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970. While there, she made headlines as the first woman editor-in-chief of The Brown Daily Herald. She went on to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching from Harvard University in 1971 and a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School in 1976.
Hodgson began her legal career as a trial attorney and became a partner at the firm of Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder, P.C. In 1987, she was appointed as a Connecticut Superior Court judge, a position she held for over 15 years. During her time on the bench, she was the first judge appointed to the Complex Litigation Docket.
Since retiring from the judiciary in 2003, Hodgson has worked as a full-time mediator and arbitrator. She is also a co-author of the book, "Alternate Dispute Resolution in Connecticut's Courts."
