Kathryn Emmett is an American lawyer with a career in law and public service. Emmett earned her B.A. from Radcliffe College in 1966 and her J.D. from Yale University School of Law in 1970. She was admitted to practice law in Connecticut in 1970, and in other jurisdictions including the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut (1970), the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit (1971), the U.S. Supreme Court (1975), California (1976), and various other U.S. Courts of Appeals.

She began her legal career at Koskoff, Koskoff, Rutkin & Bieder after graduating from law school. In 1976, she opened her own practice in Stamford, Connecticut. Her practice has primarily focused on employment litigation, civil rights, and personal injury cases, often representing employees. She has been recognized for her ability to advocate for those who might not otherwise have a voice in the legal system.

From 1982 to 1988, Emmett served as a judge of the Connecticut Superior Court, presiding over both criminal and civil dockets. After six years on the bench, she chose to return to private practice, missing the role of an advocate. She then co-founded the law firm Emmett & Glander in Stamford.

In addition to her private practice and judicial roles, Emmett has been appointed to public service positions, such as the Connecticut Medical Examining Board by Governor Dannel Malloy. She has also engaged in significant legal work, including challenging anti-abortion laws and advocating for women's rights, such as their admission to Mory's at Yale.
