BiographyElaine Gordon is a retired judge and currently a principal member of Gordon ADR, an alternative dispute resolution business. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she attended Northwestern University from 1967 to 1971, majoring in journalism and political science. She began her legal studies at DePaul in 1972 before transferring to the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1973, graduating in 1975.

Gordon started her legal career in 1976 with Legal Aid in New Britain, Connecticut, focusing on divorce cases, and later transitioning to housing law in New Haven. In 1984, she moved into private practice, specializing in family law. In June 1988, Elaine Gordon was appointed as a judge, becoming the seventh female judge in Connecticut. She served for 23 years, presiding over criminal, family, and civil cases, and held leadership positions including heading Judicial Education and serving as an administrative judge. She retired from the bench in August 2011 and subsequently co-founded Gordon ADR with her husband, Peter Curley.
