DescriptionInfant's shirt of white cotton, with a wide, square neckline and short sleeves edged with whitework embroidery in scallops. The shirt is made of a long rectangle of fabric, with the narrow ends folded to the center back to create the opening. These edges are both selvages so the fabric is 24 1/2 inches wide. The top of each side fold is slit for about 2 1/2 inches to set in the sleeve. The sleeves are about 1 3/4 inches wide and have a thread eyelet worked inside at the top for tying a decorative ribbon.
