DescriptionInfant's shirt of white cotton. It is made of a long rectangle of fabric, folded in half, with the folded edge along one side, and the ends of the rectangle (which are selvages) whip-stitched together to form the opposite side seam. The top edge is slit about 1 7/8 inch in from the sides, creating front and back flaps that fold down over the baby band. This results in a wide, square neckline. The sleeves are about 1 1/4 inch wide; they are gathered at the shoulder and are edged with narrow bobbin lace. The shoulder seam is inset with bobbin lace.
