DescriptionInfant's shirt of white cotton. It is made of a long rectangle of fabric, with the narrower ends folded to the center back to create the opening. The top corners of the folds are cut on a slight diagonal to create the armholes. A 1 1/2-inch-wide sleeve is set into the armhole. Slits are cut from the top edge, parallel to the armhole, creating front and back flaps that fold down. A triangle of fabric is stitched to the inside edge of the shoulder strap; it folds back over the shoulder. The front and back flaps, shoulder flaps, and sleeves, are all embellished with whitework embroidery in a vine pattern. The opening fastens with two self-covered buttons.
