DescriptionWoman's chemise of plain linen with unevenly colored threads. It is cut with separate front and back panels joined by shoulder straps. The square neckline (four inches deep in front) is gathered on a drawstring, front and back. The sleeves are short (4 1/2 inches) and gathered at the top of the shoulder. Underarm gussets provide ease. The flare at the lower body of the chemise is created by triangular piecing set in the side seams. Seams are finished by spreading the seam allowances and stitching them down.
