DescriptionInfant's shirt of white cotton. It is made of a rectangle of fabric, folded in half along the shoulderline. The sides are inserted with gores to create flare. The sides above the gores are left open and narrow-hemmed to create the armholes. The top edge is slit vertically for about 3 inches, and the inner section is cut along the fold line. This creates the shoulder straps and front and back flaps that fold down over the belly band. The bottom of each slit is reinforced with a tack made of buttonhole stitching over a thread.
On the front flap "Andrew" is hand-written over a little drawing of a leafy sprig.
