DescriptionInfant's shirt of white cotton. It is made by folding the short ends of a long rectangle towards the center back. The sleeves are made by slitting the folded sides for 2 3/4 inches and stitching a gusset into the bottom of the armhole that is thus created. Another cut is made down from the top edge, creating two tabs that are stitched together to form a shoulder strap. The seam is inserted with whitework embroidery. The armhole is also edged with scalloped whitework embroidery. The flaps that are created at front and back by these cuts are rounded off and edged with scalloped needlelace. The flaps are appliquéd with whitework embroidery.
