DescriptionInfant's long white dress, with a square insert around the high, round neckline, made up of alternating vertical rows of machine-made eyelet, featherstitching, and pintucking. Extending over the shoulders from the outer edges of this insert are 3 1/2-inch ruffles, like wings, made of eyelet embroidery. The neckline is trimmed with an eyelet ruffle under the bound edge. The sleeves are gathered into the armsyce. They are very full and are also gathered into one-inch-wide cuffs of eyelet embroidery, edged with an eyelet ruffle. The dress is closely gathered across the bottom of the neckline insert at both front and back. The center back opening is about 9 1/2-inches-long (now torn an extra five inches) and has no visible means of closure. The hem is six inches deep and is headed by pulled threadwork.
