DescriptionCylindrical, small-mouthed redware preserve jar with a clear lead glaze. The jar has a flat bottom and cylindrical sides that narrow from the shoulder to neck, then flare again to form a rolled rim. An incised line circles the shoulder of the jar. The jar is glazed on the interior and exterior, with the exception of the bottom and lower quarter inch of the exterior of the jar, which is left unglazed. Small flecks of manganese black decoration are located in the glaze on the outside of the jar. One small area of the side of the jar has been left unglazed; the surface of the redware beneath the glaze is irregular in several places. There is light crazing and many light scratches in the glaze on the exterior of the jar. The glaze has been rubbed or chipped away from most of the rim of the jar.
