DescriptionWoman's white cotton petticoat. The petticoat is lightly gathered across the front and closely gathered across the back into the 1 1/4-inch-wide waistband. The lower section of the petticoat is decorated with nine rows of narrow tucks on each side of a 2 5/8-inch-wide band of ruched self-fabric. The bottom of the petticoat is stitched with a 3 5/8-inch-wide flat band of machine-embroidered whitework with a vandyke edge. The center back opening extends 10 3/8 inches; there is currently no closing mechanism. The petticoat has been shortened by taking a 1 3/4-inch-deep inverted tuck above the bands of decoration.
