DescriptionWoman's petticoat of plain white cotton, with a 2 5/8-inch-wide shaped yoke at the hips. The petticoat is stitched smoothly into the yoke across the front and gathered across the back. The petticoat has a 7 3/4-inch-deep ruffle sewn around and over the bottom, creating a double layer. This ruffle is machine-embroidered whitework with a continuous floral pattern. The ruffle is headed by a narrow band of decorative woven tape imitating embroidery. The center back opening extends 11 1/2 inches and fastens with two mother of pearl buttons on the waist yoke.
