DescriptionWooden sole raised on an iron oval-shaped ring. The toe of the sole is very pointed; a strip of iron extends along the bottom of the sole from the base of the ring to cover the tip of the toe, providing extra support. The back of the sole is carved out to accomodate a shallow heel. Two leather straps extend from the sides where they are nailed; they are punched with holes for a tie so the patten can be secured to the shoe and foot. This leather was once covered with a dark fabric, which appears to have been coated with some sort of waterproofing material.
