DescriptionFive-story stone second empire style building decorated with American flags, bunting, streamers and stars. Electric light bulbs are strung on wires across the street and on a star on the top of a pole in the left foreground. Additional American flags, bunting, and what may be French flags hang from utility poles and trolley poles. The Gothic corner tower and roofline of the Wadsworth Atheneum are visible at the right, behind trees. The building at the left, with a portico of Corinthian columns, is under construction. A crane is visible above the roof. A construction shed in the foreground in front of bleachers. A horse and carriage is beside the sidewalk. Trolley tracks are in the street. Snow is on the ground. A bicycle leans against the building. Signs read: "Hartford Steam Boiler / Inspection / and / Insurance Co." "Aetna Life / Accident / Department." Inscribed on back: "Main St. Charter Oak / Life then Aetna Home / Office."
