BiographyJames W. Cooper (1905-1989) graduated from Yale Law School in 1929 and served as clerk to Judges Learned Hand and Thomas W. Swan of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He was president of the Connecticut Bar in 1957 and 1958 and of the Connecticut Bar Foundation from 1973 to 1975. He retired in 1974 as senior partner of Tyler, Cooper & Alcorn of New Haven.
