BiographyPrescott Sheldon Bush Sr. was born on 15 May 1895 in Columbus, Ohio. He was the son of Samuel Prescott Bush and Flora Sheldon Bush. He graduated from Yale College and served as an artillery officer in World War I. He served as a banker after the war. He represented Connecticut in the United States Senate from 1952 to 1963. He was the father of President George H. W. Bush (1924-2018) and the paternal grandfather of President George W. Bush (b. 1946). He died on 8 October 1972 in New York City.
