DescriptionCast pewter plate with a single bead at the outer edge of the 1 1/2-inch-wide rim, a shallow well, and an incised line circling the bottom of the well. There are deep scratches on both the top surface and underside of the well, with additional light scratches over all the surfaces of the plate.

MarkingsJacob's Mark 113 - The underside of the well has two side-by-side marks of a rampant lion in a columned gateway; "THOMAS" is in an arch above the lion, while "DANFORTH" is below. Below the two marks are a set of four hallmarks, each inside a shield: the initials "TD" separated by a period; a leopard; a seated figure; and a dagger. The hallmarks show signs of wear from the dye that made them: there is damage to the lower right corner of the shield containing the initials "TD" and to the left side of the shield containing the leopard.Subject Terms
