DescriptionWide-mouthed, ovoid, redware jar. The jar has a flat, round foot, and sides that swell then narrow to form a short, plain, standing rim. A group of three incised lines circles the jar just below the rim. Two delicate, applied lug handles are pressed against the jar along their full length just below these incised lines. A second group of five incised lines circles the jar just above its widest point. The interior of the jar is coated with a lead glaze, and much of the exterior is as well, with the exception of the bottom inch of the jar, which is unglazed. Many irregular patches of manganese black have been applied to the jar, generally at the shoulder and rim.
There is crazing over all the glazed surfaces of the jar, and light scratches circling the widest parts of the jar. The glaze at the rim is heavily scratched, possibly the result of contact with a now missing lid. There are multiple small chips in the rim, and one chip at the foot.
