DescriptionWoman's petticoat or underskirt of white cotton. The petticoat is closely gathered all around the 1 1/2-inch-wide waistband. The front is decorated with three six-inch-wide flounced tiers of self-fabric inserted with a strip of white eyelet embroidery and edged with a vandyked strip of white eyelet embroidery. The bottom of the petticoat is decorated with three rows of 3/4-inch-wide tucks, two rows of embroidered insertion, and an edging of the vandyked eyelet embroidery. The center back opening extends 15 1/2 inches and fastens with a single mother of pearl button on the waistband. The fabric of the petticoat has been pieced in a semicircle across the back of each hip.
