DescriptionWoman's petticoat of white cotton. The petticoat is constructed with a waist yoke, which is pointed and 3 1/2 inches wide at the center front, tapering to a width of 1 1/4 inch at the center back opening. The petticoat is eased into the yoke across the front and gathered across the back. The center back opening extends ten inches and fastens with a single white porcelain button on the yoke. A cotton tape within a casing acts as a drawstring across the center back of the petticoat to pull the fullness towards the back. A 10 1/2-inch-deep scalloped flounce is stitched around the bottom of the petticoat, creating two layers; the top of the flounce is piped. The flounce is embroidered in white cotton with designs of berries and floral sprays within the scallops.
