DescriptionMan's vest of cream-colored worsted with woven horizontal stripes of a green and black tulip-like pattern alternating with narrow, double yellow stripes. The vest has a standing collar with rounded front edges. A single row of small brass shank buttons (not original to vest) close the vest. There is a 5 1/4-inch-wide pocket on each side. The inside corners are slanted towards the center front to prevent the pocket from being torn as the man put his hand in it. The backing fabric of the vest is plain, undyed cotton. There are two strips of cotton punched with eyelets sewn to the back of the vest; these would be laced to adjust the fit. The lining of the vest is the same plain, undyed cotton.
