DescriptionMan's vest of white marseilles (also called "marcella") fabric, with a woven pattern of plain stripes alternating with geometric figures on diagonal ground. The vest has a 2 3/8-inch-high (measured at center back) standing collar and is very narrow across the shoulders. It buttons nearly to the top at center front, with six self-covered buttons. There is a 5 2/8-inch-wide pocket on each lower side. The back of the vest is plain linen. The front corners of the vest are lined with a finer grade linen pieced out with plain cotton. Four linen tapes stitched to the back originally tied to adjust the fit.
