DescriptionMan's vest of cream-colored cotton, woven with a twisted white/brown thread in a checked pattern. The vest has a short shawl collar that has been altered to make it slightly longer. The center front opening fastens with four non-original, mother of pearl buttons. There is one breast pocket on the proper left side and a five-inch-wide pocket on each lower side. There is a removeable cotton wadding pad on each side of the vest front, held in place with a bone button. The vest backing fabric is plain white cotton. A self-fabric buckled strap across the lower back adjusts the fit. The lining fabric is also plain, white cotton. The center back seam is vented for 3 3/8 inches. There is a large, round-bottomed patch pocket sewn on the lining of the left vest front, and a smaller, square breast pocket on the right vest front.
