DescriptionInfant's dress of white cotton, with a wide, square neckline controlled by drawstrings. The short sleeves are gathered onto a strip of self-fabric along the inside edge of the shoulder (so that only gathering shows), and into a narrow strip of whitework embroidery at the sleeve opening. Two pointed pieces of self-fabric, with scalloped edges, are stitched over the sleeves, their points meeting at the top of the shoulder under a thread-covered button. The high waistline is controlled by a drawstring. The dress opens down the entire length of the center back. These edges are scalloped and worked with eyelet embroidery. The bottom of the skirt is decorated with three sets of three narrow tucks above a scalloped and white-work embroidered edge. The embroidery design is a leafy frond.
