The dress has a yoke made up of vertical bands of ruched self-fabric and strips of whitework embroidery. The yoke is edged with narrow, scalloped whitework embroidery. The bodice is gathered into the bottom of the yoke and into the waistband, which is a strip of the whitework embroidery. The skirt is gathered into the waistband. It is decorated with two vertical strips of ruched self-fabric, with a horizontal band of ruching connecting the two strips above the 3 5/8-inch-deep hem. The sleeves are cut with an upper and lower seam like a coat sleeve, and are slightly gathered into the shoulder. The wrist openings are bordered with an inserted band of whitework, and edged with narrow, scalloped whitework.
