DescriptionInfant's shirt of fine, white cotton. The shirt is constructed of a long rectangle with the short ends folded to the center back. Diagonal cuts are made at the top corners for setting in the short sleeves, thus creating a wide, square neckline. The front and back of the shirt are gathered into a narrow band edging the neckline. This band is decorated with featherstitching in white thread and it is edged with bobbin lace. The hem of the sleeves is headed by decorative drawn threadwork; featherstitching and bobbin lace trim the opening edge. Two buttonholes are stitched at the top of the center back opening so that the shirt can be tied closed with a ribbon.
