DescriptionView of Fitchville, a cotton manufacturing village established by Nehemiah H. Fitch and his brothers in 1832. The most prominent structures are three large mill buildings, one with a cupola. Smaller buildings are at the left and a wooded hill is in the background. In the foreground is a river, presumably the Yantic River. A large pile of "sand" at the far left, a "stone wall" and an "earth path" along the river are labeled. Detailed sketches of two of the smaller buildings are above the main composition
