The yokes are pointed at center front and center back. The neckline is high and round and finished with a narrow standing band; this band is edged with whitework embroidery which widens at the front and turns down like a pointed collar. The front and back panels of the nightgown are gathered into the yoke. The nightgown opens at center front with a 16 1/2-inch button placket, with six mother of pearl buttons. The placket continues as a pleat down to the hem. The armscyes are piped. The long sleeves are cut with an upper and lower seam like a coat sleeve and are gathered at the shoulder. The sleeve tapers to the wrist, ending in a cuff made with the diagonal pintucking and whitework insertion like the yoke. The hem is 2 1/2 inches deep.
