DescriptionWoman's white cotton nightgown, with elaborately embroidered yoke. The whitework embroidery depicts clusters of grapes on leafy vines. The nightgown opens the length of the center front and fastens with eighteen shell buttons. In the area of the yoke, the buttons are hidden under a placket covered by the embroidery. The opening is flanked by seven narrow, vertical tucks on each side. The armscyes are piped. The full sleeves are gathered into the armscyes and into the narrow cuff at the wrist. The cuff has a turned-back extension of the whitework embroidery. It also closes with a single shell button. The hem is 2 1/8 inches deep.
