DescriptionA historical scene from the Napoleonic Wars, showing a battle between French soldiers on the right and Arabs on the left. The French soldiers wear uniforms and wield swords and muskets. InscribedOn recto, lithographed title beneath image, "SIEGE OF CONSTANTINE. (AFRICA.) / The French, masters of the breach, rushed like a torrent upon the Arabs and made them pay dear for the fatigue which had been endured. The carnage was / terrible and the tumult and disorder which prevailed during the first hours of victory could not be suppressed."

On verso, a pencil drawing of a two-story building, apparently a house.
