BiographyStacey Close is known for his work in history, equity, and diversity. He serves as the Associate Provost and Vice President for Equity and Diversity at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, Connecticut, where he is also a professor of history.

Originally from Georgia, Dr. Close has dedicated over two decades to higher education. He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. degrees from The Ohio State University and his B.A. from Albany State College. His academic focus includes African American, American, African, and Southern history. Dr. Close is a co-author of the book "African American Connecticut Explored," which delves into the state's Black history.
