DescriptionMan's shirt of slightly coarse linen, with finer linen collar, plastron front, and cuffs. The shirt front and back are cut in rectangular panels and are joined at the shoulder with a 5 1/4-inch-long gusset for accommodating the 1 3/4-inch-high standing collar. The shirt front is gathered into the bottom of the plastron inset, which is box-pleated. The center front opening is hidden under the center box pleat of the plastron. It fastens with two crude mother of pearl buttons at the collar. The long sleeves are gathered at the shoulder and into a two-inch-wide cuff at the wrist. The cuff fastens with a single bone button. The sleeve is gusseted under the arm. The side seams are open for 11 1/2 inches from the bottom; the top of this vent is reinforced with a strip of self-fabric.
