DescriptionQuarter plate daguerreotype of Leverett Brainard, likely made in the mid-1850s, when Brainard was in his mid-20s. He is wearing a jacket, waistcoat, white shirt with a standing collar, and a tie that appears to be silk. His hair is fashioned into the distinctive mid-1850s men's style, with a puff of hair at the center of the forehead. His facial hair is worn in a fringe around his cheeks and chin, with a mustache with turned up ends and a small beard under his lower lip.
