DescriptionSixth plate daguerreotype of Eleanor Porter Bissell (wife of Josiah Stevens Rice). She is probably in her late thirties to mid-forties in this image. She is wearing a dress a pleated bodice, narrow sleeves, and a ribbon worn around her throat under the white collar, fastened with a brooch. She is also wearing something on a long chain around her neck, but her hands are covering it. Her hair is parted in the middle and pulled back into what appears to be a braid that is wound around the back of her head. It is just visible in the image.
