DescriptionSixth plate daguerreotype portrait of George and Emma Bancroft, brother and sister, taken when they were about six and 13 years old, respectively. George is wearing a jacket buttoned up to the neck.It has a small white collar. Emma is wearing a long-sleeved dress that is also fastened at the neck with a small lace collar. She is holding what appears to be a book in her left hand. Her hair is parted in the middle and pulled back so that it covers her ears.
