DescriptionYoung girl's dress of white ribbed cotton, with a high, round neckline which is bound with self-fabric. The princess-seamed dress is decorated around the neckline and in the lower half of the center front panel with white soutache braid laid out in arabesque and geometric designs. The soutache continues around the bottom of the flared skirt, above a 3 1/2-inch-deep, whitework-embroidered ruffle. The two-piece coat sleeves are decorated around the wrist openings with the soutache. The center back opening extends 13 1/2 inches and fastens with five mother of pearl buttons; an additional non-functioning button decorates the bottom of the button placket. The skirt is gathered across the back at approximately hip-level. This line of gathering is headed by a strip of whitework embroidery, which also heads the ruffle at the bottom of the dress.
