DescriptionPressed colorless glass paperweight with black and white transfer decoration. The paperweight consists of a rectangular glass block with curved edges and corners. The bottom surface of the paperweight is recessed. A design, applied using a black and white transfer printing process, is applied into this recessed area and is visible through the top of the paperweight. The design shows a piece of metal machinery surrounded by text. The machine slopes down to the left and has many levers and moving mechanical parts. A horizontal portion of the machine has the small words, "THE BABCOCK PRESS MFG. CO. OPTIMUS". Above the machine is the title, "The Babock Printing Press Mfg. Co." To the left is, "NEW YORK OFFICE/ TRIBUNE BUILDING." To the right is, "NEW LONDON. CONN." Below is, "THE 'OPTIMUS.'"
