DescriptionSmall but thick, blown colorless lead glass carafe with a thick, flaring lip, a nearly cylindrical neck, low sloping shoulders, a semi-barrel shaped body, and flat bottom with a polished pontil mark. The carafe is plain, with the exception of three single rings of lead glass applied to the neck. An additional ring of glass was probably applied to the rim of the carafe as well. There are many small scratches around the widest part, and a ring of scratches and wear around the bottom edges of the carafe.
Pontil mark: A rough place on a blown glass object where the solid metal rod, or pontil, is cracked off the object after final shaping and decoration. Pontil marks can be polished to achieve a smooth surface.
