DescriptionBlown colorless lead glass pitcher; the pitcher is thick walled and very heavy. The pitcher has a plain rim that has been pulled forward to form a wide spout, a baluster-shaped body, a recessed bottom, and a polished pontil mark. It is decorated with four horizontal rings of raised glass, evenly spaced between the neck and foot. A handle has been applied opposite the spout, connecting the rim with the widest point of the pitcher. The bottom of the handle has been curled up and compressed. There are many bubbles in the glass. There is a ring of light scratches and wear on the bottom edge of the pitcher.

Pontil mark: A rough place on a blown glass object where the solid metal rod, or pontil, is cracked off the object after final shaping and decoration. Pontil marks can be polished to achieve a smooth surface.
