DescriptionView of eight children in costumes standing outside in front of a row of trees. Katherine Den Cheney (1906-1995) is standing in the back row. In the front row, left to right, are: Hannah Latimer Cheney (1912-2012), Amory Cheney (1909-1999), Elizabeth "Betty" Simpkins Cheney (1915-2009), Mabel Austin Cheney (1916-2000), Marjory Bacon Cheney (1912-2003), Timothy "Tip" Cheney (1913-1990) and Hope Amory Cheney (1913-1940). Katherine is dressed as a king or queen, wearing a crown. Amory is wearing a dress with a straw hat. The other girls are wearing dresses with saw-tooth hems, and Tip is wearing a shirt with a saw-tooth hem and dark colored leggings. All except for Katherine and Amory are wearing hats that resemble flowers. Tip is holding a sunflower on a stick.

The photograph is attached to a thick piece of cardstock. The cardstock has a border printed in gray ink near the outer edge and another on the inside, around the image area. Another border with scrollwork corners is embossed just outside of the inner printed border.

All of the children pictured are grandchildren of Frank Woodbridge Cheney and Mary Bushnell. Hannah was the daughter of Horace Bushnell Cheney, Sr. and Mary Pierson. Timothy was the son of Howell Cheney and Anne Kimberly Bunce. Katherine was the daughter of Seth Leslie Cheney and Katherine Bell. Betty, Mabel and Marjory were the daughters of Austin Cheney and Ruth Sears Bacon. Amory and Hope were the daughters of Frank Dexter Cheney and Sara Otis Amory.
