DescriptionView of nine Cheney children in costumes, standing outside in front of a row of trees. In the back row are, from left to right: Amory Cheney (1909-1999), Katherine Den Cheney (1906-1995), Alice Gay Cheney (1908-1969), Ruth Sears Cheney (1907-1998), Maribel Cheney (1905-1997), Jane Davenport Cheney (1906-1989), Rosalie Amory Cheney (1906-1999) and Cynthia Cheney (1908-1977). Hannah Latimer Cheney (1912-2012) is sitting on the ground in front. Several of them are in Robin Hood costumes. Ruth appears to be dressed as a princess, Jane as a knight, Rosalie as a milkmaid, and Hannah as a fairy.

The photograph is attached to a piece of thick cardstock that has a border printed in gray ink around the outside edge and another in the middle, around the image area. Another border with scrollwork corners is embossed just outside of the inner printed border.

Amory and Rosalie were the daughters of Frank Dexter Cheney and Sara Otis Amory. Katherine was the daughter of Seth Leslie Cheney and Katherine Bell. Ruth was the daughter of Austin Cheney and Ruth Sears Bacon. Maribel was the daughter of Charles Cheney, II and Mary E. Bell. Jane and Cynthia were the daughters of John Davenport Cheney and Mary Wilcox Russell. Hannah was the daughter of Horace Bushnell Cheney, Sr. and Mary Pierson. They were all granddaughters of Frank W. Cheney and Mary Bushnell.

Alice was the daughter of John Platt Cheney and Alice Gay, and the granddaughter of James Woodbridge Cheney and Harriet Elizabeth Cheney.
