DescriptionPainting by Virginia Hogan depicting the 1939 flood in Hartford on Sheldon Street. The foreground consists mainly of a thick line of people, confined by a wooden fence which seems to be running in the street, which is flooded with water. Towards the background of the painting is the other side of the street, which is lined with buildings. One of the buildings has a sign that says, "SHELDON FURNITURE HOUSE." A truck with people sitting in it is in front of the buildings.
