DescriptionThree-quarter length seated portrait of a young woman wearing a dress with a fitted bodice and short lace sleeves. A rose is pinned at her breast, and she wears a bracelet on her left wrist. She holds a writing tablet in her lap and a mechanical pencil or stylus in her right hand. Wallpaper with a pattern incorporating lyres is on the wall in the background.

NotesDate Note: Although the firm was known as E.B. & E.C. Kellogg both from 1842 to 1848 and from 1856 to 1867, both the form of the signature and the style of the woman's dress suggest this print was produced during the 1840s. (Finlay 10/1/2003)
