DescriptionCrazy quilt consisting of brightly colored plain and compound weave silks, velvet, cotton and ribbon machine-stitched together and covered with hand-stitched decorative embroidery. The pieced fabric also includes ombré and moiré silks. The initial "B" is embroidered on a piece of silk.The crazy quilt has hand-stitched embroidery and commercially produced appliqué bees, insects, cats, an elf king stealing a child, a boot, a cross, a horseshoe, fans, a crocodile, and a flower. The pieced center section of the quilt is surrounded by a maroon velvet border that is edged with bobbin lace, or Torchon lace. The backing is a maroon, twill-woven cotton.
Condition: The top is in excellent condition. The backing has many holes and areas of fading at previous crease lines.
