DescriptionAt the left, three cannon crews are firing their guns. The men wear red shirts, blue trousers, and military beaked caps. All have beards and mustaches. One man has a canteen slung from a strap over his shoulder. One man sits on the ground holding a wound in his leg. A wooden box containing charges or wadding and a pile of cannon balls are nearby. At the right, a large group of soldiers advances in formation. An American flag flies overhead. In the distance, cavalry charge, and dead and wounded lie on the ground.
