DescriptionBoy's short pants of white cotton dimity. The legs are only slightly splayed. The pants are smooth across the front and back. They have no waistband, but rather a 1 1/2-inch-wide reinforcement of self-fabric around the waist. The sides are open for six inches. Buttonholes worked on each side of the top of the openings would have fastened to the shirt. A separate strip of fabric worked with a single buttonhole in the center is sewn inside the waist, both front and back. The back of the pants is fitted with darts. An opening in the lower front crotch seam is covered by a flap inside the pants, in place of a fly.
